After accepting a marriage proposal, Schlussel left New York to be with her husband in Washington D.C. She then secured a teaching job in clothing design at the University of Maryland. When her hus- band was transferred to Phila- delphia, she taught at Drexel Institute of Technology. During the years of raising three children, she started an interior design company. When her husband was transferred to Detroit, she opened an interior design company here. The company is called Roseanne Schlussel Designs. Roseanne N MI . After a divorce, she decided to return to fashion designing and selling clothes. In 1984, Schlussel put together a collec- tion of six pieces — pants, dresses, and tops. She intro- duced her collection at a March of Dimes meeting, and had two orders at the end of the day. The Eccentric also featured a story about her new designs. She then showed her collec- tion to a friend, a salesperson at Neiman-Marcus. Her friend loved the dresses and wore one to work. By the end of the day, the friend went to the manager because some customers wanted to buy the same dress.
