popular this season. Diane M.,
a new store in Birmingham, will
carry a variety of cashmere
sweaters. Owner Diane Mondry
believes the sweaters are
reasonably priced. 'We have
beautiful shades of pink,
cognac and olive," says Mondry.
Anna Bassett suggests wear-
ing a sweater under a suit. "It
changes the whole look."
Fini will carry appliqued
sweaters with leather and fur.
"There will be interesting col-
lages of fabric," states Gina
Galvin of Fini.
PANTS
Although pants are not
highlighted this season, the
pants are roomier and baggy.
Diane Mondry offers an in-

important." People are so con-

outfit Mondry suggests a black
cashmere sweater with the new
roomier grey flannel pants and
antique jewelry.
EVENING DRESSES
'Velvet is very big this year,"
states Rita Goldstone, owner of
Sherri's. Sherri's has some stun-
ning black velvet evening
dresses with gold lame.
Pamela Swift, located now in
Walled Lake, custom designs
evening clothes. 'We are mak-
ing some very special gowns
with silver lame and the up-
dated, flatter sequins," states
Ann Strickstein, co-owner of
Pamela Swift.
Bare shoulders and bare
necklines are still popular.
According to Naomi Lippa,
owner of Naomi's, "Black is
the choice color."
SHOES/LEGS
There's an emphasis on legs.
Dark knit stockings to match the
skirt and shoes are a must.
"Higher heels are stylish
because of the shorter skirts,"
states Stan Zerman, owner of
Sandilar and Sandilar Too.
