Cary Beale
•Wins Ceremony

Cary Beale will share his
bar mitzvah with a Soviet
Jewish peer in absentia at
Cong. Beth Achim on
Monday.
The son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jerome Beale of Southfield,
Cary will share his special
day with Roma Avadiaiev of
Derbent, Russia. Roma is the
son of Kiin and Roza
Avadiaiev, grandson of
Avigail Avadiaiev and one of
five children.
The Avadiaiev family has
been refused permission to
emigrate since Januagy 1975,
and has been unable to join
Roma's aunt in Israel who has
been there nine years.
The Avadiaiev family is
among the Tat ("Mountain")
Jews living in the Caspian
seaport of Derbent. This com-
munity has lodged a special
joint protest against the local
Ovir's policy of refusing them
exit visas to reunite with
close relatives in Israel.
Cary will read from the
Torah for both of them.
