YAD Launches
Brunch Series
The Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion's Young Adult Division
will kick off its "Sunday
Brunch With YAD" series
with a discussion of "Jewish
Life in Central America," at
10:30 a.m. Sept. 20, at the
United Hebrew Schools in
Southfield.
Dr. Ann Mandelbaum-
Mann will lead the dialogue
in the auditorium of the
School's Sigmund and Sophie
Rohlik Building.
After immigrating here
from Cuba, Mandelbaum-
Mann attended Wayne State
University and the Universi-
ty of Michigan. She then pur-
sued graduate studies in
Spain.
She is on the faculty of
Wayne State, where she
teaches Spanish, and has
recently returned from a trip
to Central America.
Phillip Seltzer and Leslie
Chandler are YAD political
awareness committee
chairmen.

Weiner Named
By Brandeis
Greater Detroit Chapter,
Brandeis University National
Women's Committee, honored
Shirley Weiner at the opening
of its recently completed an-
nual used book sale "for her
continuous service for the
past 25 years."
Proceeds from the book sale
benefit Brandeis University
libraries.
A major book collection has
been donated to Brandeis
University in honor of Mrs.
Weiner.

Offers Classes
The American Red Cross,
Southeastern Michigan
Chapter, will offer a variety of
health education classes dur-
ing the month of September.
Topics include parenting,
babysitting, home nursing,
