Flavio Varani

Internationally renowned
concert pianist Flavio Varani
will perform at the opening
meeting of the Music Study
Club of Metropolitan Detroit
on Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. at the
Birmingham Temple. It is
open to the public at a
nominal fee. Dessert will be
served at 12:15 p.m.
Artist in Residence at
Oakland University, Varani
has been on the concert stage
since the age of 7. He makes
yearly tours of Europe and his
native South America, perfor-
ming as recitalist, orchestra
soloist and guest chamber
musician.
The program will include
works of the Romantic reper-
toire. Future meetings of the
club will feature violist It-
zhak Schatten, flutist Nikolai
Lemberg and tenor Cantor

tion for its religious school.
The program includes:
nursery, kindergarten, high
school, religious school, junior
congregation, holiday
celebrations and a variety of
youth activities, including

midweek drop-in program.

Sunday elective program for
grades six and seven.
Students will be offered mini-
course units in: American
Jewish history, Judaism
through computer, crafts and
handg-on skills, literature of
our people, Israel and a course
in Torah reading and advanc-
