Parent
Responsibilities

Participate in school
booster clubs to support
music, theatre and athletic
activities.
Support organizations like
the PM in their efforts to pro-
vide resources for the schools.
For example, you might help
raise money for playground
equipment, classroom corn-
puters, tec.
Help set up after-school
recreational programs at local
playgrounds or community
centers.
Escort student tours of local
museums or historical sites.
Invite school choral groups
to perform at public func-
tions. School bands and or-
chestras could also do con-
certs in the park or retire-
ment homes.
Help arrange for students
to display their art in banks,
libraries, shopping malls or
other high-traffic places.
Attend school board
meetings, even if you're not a
parent. The welfare of the
schools is the responsibility of
the entire community.
Check into starting an
"adopt-a-school" program
sponsored by your company or
organization.
Work with school ad-
ministrators to make school
facilities available for civic
group functions.
Many parents who cannot
speak English would benefit
from a special course which
could be taught either during
or after school hours. For the
convenience of parents with
small children, a babysitter
could be provided. Help bring
these parents closer to their
children's education . . . and
to their community.
With more and more of our
children coming from single
parent families, a "volunteer
parents" program could help
these kids receive the added
individual attention they
need.

booklets to help.
2. Support ydur child

work.
