Rackman
Dr.
graduated from Columbia
University with B.A., Ph.D. .
and LL.B. degrees. He was
also elected to Phi Beta Kap-
pa. He was ordained and
earned a Doctor of Divinity
degree from Yeshiva Univer-
sity and has held many
teaching and administrative
posts in Jewish higher educa-
tion and law.
He has been a professor and
provost at Yeshiva University,
City University of New York
and has taught Jewish law at
the New York University Law
School.
Dr. Rackman has been an
executive of many major
Jewish organizations and was
the rabbi of New York's Fifth
Avenue Synagogue prior to
his making aliyah in 1977.
In 1977, Rabbi Rackman
became the President of Bar-
Ilan University. He has been
the chancellor of Bar-Ilan
University since 1986 and is
the author of several books
and many scholarly articles.

Block Party
The Neighborhood Project,
in cooperation with the
residents of the "Greater
Square Mile," is planning a
block party for Sunday from
1 to 4 p.m.
The party will take place on
Andover Street, between
Devonshire and Arlington,
near the Beacon Square
Swim Club. Cosponsored by
the city of Southfield and
Cong. Shaarey Zedek, the
gathering is open to all cur-
rent and future residents of
Southfield.
The afternoon will include
a talent show, bicycle parade,
