Max and Ruth Sosin
Tribute To Sosins Due
From Red Magen David
Ruth and Max Sosin will
receive the Distinguished
Humanitarian Service Award
of the American Red Magen
David for Israel (ARMDI) at
the Michigan Region's annual
testimonial dinner Sept. 13 at
Adat Shalom Synagogue.
Dr. John J. Mames, chair-
man of ARMDI's Michigan
Region, and Dr. Morris
Starkman, chairman of the
medical-dental council, stated
that Mr. and Mrs. Sosin are
being cited for "their lifelong
altruistic involvement and
philanthropy on behalf of
numerous charitable, social,
cultural and educational
causes locally and in Israel
and for their dedicated efforts
and generous support of
Magen David Adom (MDA),
Israel's national Emergency
Medical, Ambulance and
Blood Service?'
Sosin is a past president
and a board member of Cong.
B'nai David for more than 40
years, and was honored with
the State of Israel Bonds 30th
Anniversary Silver Medal
(1981), has been a continuing
member of the Israel Bonds
Ambassador's Society of
Trustees and led the Metro
Detroit delegation to the 1981
International Israel Bond
30th anniversary conference
in Israel.
He also serves on the boards
of Zionist Organization of
Detroit and the Resettlement
Service; is an honorary past
president of Brandeis Lodge
of B'nai B'rith, an honorary
member of Cong. Beth
Abraham Hillel Moses and is
actively involved in the Allied
Jewish Campaign.
As a raconteur and
humorist Sosin has devoted
many volunteer hours to
entertaining residents of the
Jewish Home for Aged and
various groups and organiza-
tions in the Metropolitan
Detroit area.
Ruth Greenstein Sosin has
been active in Mizrachi
holding the office of vice
president of the Fanny Gluck
Chapter and has been an ac-
tive member of the Brandeis
Chapter of B'nai B'rith,
Hadassah, American Jewish
Congress and Jewish Federa-
tion. She worked as a
volunteer for three years in
the Sinai Hospital Gift Shop
and has chaired luncheons for
the Infants Service Group.
Since 1970 Mrs. Sosin has
devoted her time and energies
to the B'nai David Sisterhood
and gift shop (chairman).
With her husband Max she
serves on the board of direc-
tors, Michigan Region
ARMDI.
The Sosins' support. and af-
filiations include ORT, Jewish
National Fund, Bar-Ilan
University, Shaare Zedek
Hospital.

Center Offers
Reading Course
Designed to help those peo-
ple with a slow reading rate,
poor comprehension, lack of
concentration and inadequate
recall, a five-session course in
effective reading skills will be
taught Monday nights at 7
p.m. beginning Sept. 14 at the
Jewish Community Center in
West Bloomfield.
The program is open to the
public. There is a charge. For
