prestigious-looking publica-
tion . . . that simply presents
the Jewish orientation to peo-
ple who are no different from
anyone else living in New
York except for the fact that
they are Jewish."
However, Federman said
that the magazine would be
of interest to all Jews,
religious and secular alike.
Magazine advertisers must
meet kashrut standards.
Federman denied that non-
Jewish readers of the New
York Times would find the
magazine offensive. "There
are publications that come
out in The New York Times
that are Christmas and New
Year oriented, like the 5th
Avenue Christmas," said
Federman.
"I don't think it should be
any more offensive to a gen-
tile to pick up a magazine and
find a picture of a shofar than
it should be for me to pick one
up and find a picture of San-
ta," he said.
The magazine is currently
slated to run three times a
year — at Rosh Hashana,
Chanukah, and Passover. Al-
though it will be limited to
the New York metropolitan
area for its first year, Feder-
man predicts that the maga-
zine will eventually accom-
pany daily newspapers in Los
Angeles, Chicago, Washing-
ton, and Miami.
The Mark Weisz agency
developed the supplement
after 15 years of handling
Jewish-related accounts, in-
cluding Royal Kedem Wine
Co. and World Cheese Corp.
They are hoping their appeal
to high-income families will
appeal to upscale advertisers
such as jewelers, auto com-
panies and financial service
businesses.
A four-color full page ad is
selling for $26,800. The agen-
cy hopes to sign up at least 30
ads for the 72-page insert.

campus of the faculty in
Rehovot.
All three had earlier earn-
ed B.Sc. degrees from Egyp-
tian Universities. All
specialized in plant protection
and are working as
agricultural officials for the
