The three, all New Yorkers, are Victor Vancier, who said he resigned as JDL national chairman in November, and Jay Cohen and Murray Young, JDL board members. They are free on $1 million bond each. Sentencing is set for October. A fourth defendant, Sharon Katz of New York, could spend three years in prison and pay a $5,000 fine after pleading guilty to carrying a teargas bomb into a Sept- ember 2 performance in New York by the Soviet troupe, the Moiseyev Dance Company. Four thousand spectators were evacuated, and 20 were injured. Katz is free on $100,000 bond. The other three admitted their responsibility for at least five other bombings dur- ing the past three years and for a scam to divert to JDL money raised ostensibly for New York Gov. Mario Cuomo. The trio told U.S. District Court Judge I. Leo Glasser that their activity was in pur- suit of JDL aims of counter- ing antiSemitism and aiding Soviet Jews and Israel. Among their confessions were firebombing a car at the Soviet compound in the Bronx borough in 1984; firebombing and pipe- bombing of cars owned by a rival JDL official in New York in 1985 and 1986; firebomb- ing a Lincoln Center stage door before a 1986 perfor- mance by the Soviet State Symphony; and the 1986 firebombing of a Pan Amer- ican Airlines trucking facili- ty at Kennedy Airport.
