Fisherman Catches
A 30-Pound Surprise

six local fishermen
were in for a big sur-
prise . . . Harold Samuels,
Sam Offen, Dr. Arnold Got-
tlieb, Dr. Reuben Lopatin, his
brother Leonard and son
Fred, were fishing for walleye
off Belle River in Lake St.
Clair.
Harold had a tug on his.line
and after a long battle land-
ed a 48" 30-pound tiger-
muskie . . . Catching a fish
this size with light tackle
could be a record.
He proudly had it mounted
. . . to adorn a wall of his
office.
DAVID MATZ, a club "A"
tennis player, performed the
equivalent of a hole-in-one in
golf or pitching a perfect
game in baseball (facing 27
batters) . . . says wife
Gertrude.
He played a perfect set of
tennis at the Detroit Tennis
and Squash Club by winning
24 consecutive points . . . His
opponent, a club "B" player,
did not commit any double
faults and every point was
played out.
CONGRATS . . . to Coryn
Saltsman . . . on her 13th bir-
thday . . . celebrated with
mother Nancy Saltsman and
sister Kylee Saltsman . . . at
Rikki's birthday dinner in

UNFORGETTABLE ex-
perience for Ernest and
Marietta Drucker of Ex-
ecutive Custom Shirtmakers
in Birmingham . . . recently
returned from their first
Israeli trip.
In Tel Aviv, Ernest met a
first cousin he hadn't seen in
almost 50 years, Fred Krep-
nick, an orange plantation
owner . . . and visited with
son, daughter-in-law and
grandchildren of localites
Nancy and Don Fox . . . in
Haifa, they visited with first
cousin of Ernest, retired
police officer Aron Halpern.
On Shavuot, they were with
Marietta's first cousin, Han-
ni Wieselberg, whom she had
not seen since they were lit-
tle girls in Austria . . . at. Kib-
butz Haogen, of which Hanni
was an original founder when
she arrived there on one of
three illegal boats.
Shavuot in Israel is a very
festive occasion say Ernest

and Marietta . . . with great
spirit among the people,
children dancing, flowers
galore, parading of farm
animals, etc.
Highlight of their trip was
Jerusalem . . . "It makes one
proud to be a Jew," Marietta
and Ernest exclaim with
much heartiness.
CONGRATS . . . to Lou
Warshaw . . . on his birthday
. . . to Harry Dubbs . . . on his
86th birthday.
FIRST anniversary soon
for Victoria at Sugar Tree on
Orchard Lake Road . . . with
its track lights, rose-colored
back wall and Z-stands
holding folded sweaters and
hanging dresses.

Gloria Stone and sister-in-law
manager Sandy Kaseta (mar-
ried to Victoria's brother

is being honored Aug. 23 by
Michigan Jewish Sports Hall
of Fame and Jewish Com-
munity Center . . . Closing
ceremony will begin at 7:30
p.m. . . . with dinner-dance
following . . . It'll be held in
the Shifman Hall of JCC,
Drake and Maple.
STEPPING from her tub,
the lovely young woman was
reaching for a towel when she
became aware of a window-
washer looking in at her .. .
So stunned she couldn't move
a muscle, she just kept star-
ing at the man . . . "What's
the matter, lady?" he said,
"haven't you seen a window-
washer before?"
PERCY KAPLAN says
that a parent is someone who
has to give a lecture on nutri-
tion to a kid who has reached
six-foot-four by eating potato
chips.
SEEING SIGNS . . . in fan-
cy seafood restaurant . . .
"Our fish come from only the
best schools."
