Dr. Sanford Finkel

Former Detroiter Dr. San-
ford Finkel of Chicago, Ill.,
has been named the
secretary-general for the
Third Congress of the Inter-
national Psychogeriatric
Association slated to meet
Aug. 28-31 in Chicago.
Dr. Finkel, son of Sally
Finkel and the late Ben
Finkel, currently teaches at
the Northwestern University
Medical School in Chicago.
He is a geriatric psychiatrist
by profession.
Dr. Finkel was the coor-
dinator of services for the
elderly in the Illinois Depart-
ment of Mental Health and
Developmental Disabilities.
He trained dozens of profes-
sionals in the mental health
problems of older people. He
also was the first president of
the American Association of
Geriatric Psychiatry.

Bound Program

Jewish Vocational Service
offers a college selection pro-
gram, for high school juniors
and seniors. The program in-
cludes an assessment of the
student's interests, abilities,
values and needs; a step-by-
step guide through the col-
lege application process, in-
cluding essay writing and in-
terviewing techniques; a com-
puterized exploration of over
1,800 colleges; and career ex-
ploration. In addition,
counselors provide financial
aid information.
The JVS College Bound
Program begins with an
orientation meeting for
students 4-5:30 p.m. Sept. 14
at JVS, 29699 Southfield Rd.,
Southfield. Fees are based
