FRIDAY, AUG. 7, 1987

ROWENA HOWARD has
been appointed manager of
Franklin Club Apartments.
She is the former director of
volunteer services for the

New York — Herut Zionists
of America president Hart
Hasten announced plans to
organize public demonstra-
tions against the decision by
Pope John Paul II to hold an
audience with Austrian Presi-
dent and known Nazi Kurt
Waldheim.
The demonstrations will
take place both in New York
City and Miami, concurrent
with the Pope's visit to
Florida tentatively scheduled
for Sept. 11. The Herut
demonstrations will be co-
sponsored by the Betar
Zionist Youth Organization
and the Tagar Zionist Stu-
dent Activist Movement.
"The Pope's action is -a
dangerous reminder of the
Vatican's silence during the
Nazi slaughter of six million
Jews," said Hasten.
Hasten continued, "We
don't need the Pope's recogni-
tion and we're not going to
beg for it. But when a Pope,
who proclaims his dedication
to humanity, gives recogni-
tion to a representative of the
vilest group of murderers
mankind has known, we will
not stand idly by."
