SONNY BRASS

All that the name implies. -

understand from whence
we've come and who we are,
because we have to unders-
tand who we are to go for-
ward. We need to get awaken-
ed to who we are!'
Leberette said she learned
there is a commonality bet-
ween blacks and Jews that
can strengthen their
association.
"I want to see a point where
there is no difference between
us," she said. "After all, we're
all God's children."
Charlesfontaine Macon, 30,
was one of the session's
leaders. He had several
misconceptions shattered
because of the get-togethers.
"I have seen first-hand that
Jewish people are loving,
sharing and believe in car-
ing," he said. "And I'm sur-
prised. Before they got here I
thought they'd be a bunch of
brats. But I've learned that
they're OK and I'm OK!'
Madricha Lisa Glazer call-
ed the experience "positive
and eye-opening!'
"It's been an intense two
days," she said. "But we know
our common ground!'
Macon hopes the program
will continue between the
church and the camp for years
to come. "Because there is a
common ground that can be
reached and because unity is
our only hope as people, we
want to keep it going," he
said. "Times like this give us
a deeper understanding of
others, but we've learned to-
day to accept the differences
between us and to love each
other despite differences in
beliefs.
