For the second consecutive
year, Nora Lessman and
Sherman Shapiro are chair-
ing the telethon efforts of the
Detroit Friends of Bar-Ilan.
This was announced by
Sharon Hart and Larry
Jackier, general chairmen.
The telethons will be held
next Wednesday and Aug. 17.
Lessman recently com-
pleted the chairmanship of
the donor event of American
Women for Bar-Ilan. She also
serves that organization as its
fund raising vice president.
Her husband Salek serves on
the American Board of
Overseers.
Shapiro has served Bar-
Ilan's synagogue liaison and
established the annual Bar-
Ilan Shabbat.
The telethon precedes Bar-
Ilan's Sept. 2 dinner. Emery I.
Klein will receive an
honorary fellowship in
recognition of his work on
behalf of the university and
the Jewish community.
The dinner will also mark
the inauguration of the
Emery and Diane Klein
Business Fellowship Fund,
and presentation of the
Lookstein Community Ser-
