Legal Systems

. New York (JTA) — The
Jewish Theological Seminary
of America will produce a
television program that
parallels the Jewish and
American attitudes toward
law. It will be part of the In-
terfaith Broadcasting Com-
mission's four-part presenta-
tion linking America's major
religious groups, to be aired
this fall.
In a one-hour segment
molded- around the theme
"The Promise of America,"
the JTS show will compare
the Jewish legal system with
the United States Constitu-
tion and amendments. The
premise is that these are "two
legal systems that have en-
dured because of their flex-
ibility and constant reinter-
pretation," according to Mar-
jorie Wyler, executive pro-
ducer of radio and television
at the seminary. "The conclu-
sion is that both legal systems
evolve constantly because
original intent is not a possi-
ble thing_ to determine,"
Wyler added.
