Debbie K. Schlussel, 18, of
Southfield, has been named
as one of three recipients of
the National Conservative
Foundation (NCF) Terry
Dolan Internship and Intern-
ship Grant. Schlussel,
nominated by National Teen
Age Republicans for the
three-month Washington
summer internship, was
chosen from college students
nominated from all over the
United States.
Schlussel will spend the
first month of her internship
as a U.S. congressional intern
for Rep. Phil Crane (R-111.). In
addition, Schlussel will serve
as an intern for Rep. Donald
E. "Buz" Lukens (R-Ohio).
She will spend her final
month as an intern at the Na-
tional Conservative Political
Action Committee.
Throughout the summer,
NCF will send Schlussel to its
campaign management, cam-
paign finance and candidate
schools, as well as the Morton
Blackwell Leadership
Institute.

Windsor Girl
Gets Fellowship

Jennifer Gerstel, 16, of
Windsor, was one of 25 Jewish
teenagers from the U.S. and
Canada chosen as a recipient
of the newly established
Edgar M.. Bronfman Youth
Fellowships in Israel design-
ed to develop future leader-
ship with a commitment to
the Jewish people.
Jennifer, a senior at Detroit
Country Day school, plays the
cello in her school's orchestra,
has performed with the Inter-

national Youth Symphony
and is the feature editor of
her school newspaper.
The teenagers will spend
four weeks in Israel this sum-
mer studying the culture and
customs of-the country. The
fellowships are fully endowed
by Bronfman through a grant
to the WJC and cover round-
trip transportation, room and
board and incidental
expenses.
