Jason Kohn
Tvirins His Rite

Jason Kohn, son of Sheila
and Sheldon Kohn of Hun-
tington Woods, and grandson
of Ted and Eva Kohn and
Frank and Anne Berman,
symbolically shared his bar
mitzvah on July 4 at Cong.
B'nai Moshe with his twin,
David Kasperovsky, of
Bendery, Moldavia, USSR.
David is the son of Semyon
and Frieda Kasperovsky who
applied for permission to
emigrate to Israel in June
1978. Kasperovsky, a worker,
his wife, an accountant, and
their young daughter, were
immediately refused permis-
sion to leave the USSR on the
grounds that Kasperovsky
served in the army from 1970
to 1973.
The Kasperovskys' relatives
are critical because Kasperov-
sky was never exposed to any
military or civilian secrets.
His parents, Ikhol and Motia
Kasperovsky, have also been
refused exit visas because of
their son's military service.
Jason has written often to
David and was able to speak
with him and his family by
telephone with the help of a
Russian friend who served as
a translator. David told Jason
that he had received some of
his letters, but because the
Kasperovsky family does not
speak English, they were
afraid to have the letters
translated.
Kasperovsky also said that
he has recently lost his job
and the family has been forc-
ed to move.

Bar - Mitzvah
Is Celebrated

Eliezer Shmuel We-
ingarden, son of Dr. Saul and
Chavie Weingarden,
celebrated his bar mitzvah on
Shabbat Chukat, July 4, at
Cong. B'nai Israel Beth
Yehudah and lunch at the
Yeshiva Gedola of Greater
Detroit. Eliezer read the com-
plete portion of the Torah and
also the Maftir for the
Shabbat.
Eli is the grandson of Mr.
and Mrs. Irving Weingarden
of Southfield, Mrs. Goldie
Wrotslaysky of Oak Park, and
Ben Wrotslaysky of
Southfield. Eli is the brother
of Miriam Chana, Mayer
Yechiel, Josef Zvi, Daniel
Nachmun and Tamar Ayala.
Guests came to help
celebrate from California,
New York, Chicago, Kansas,
Baltimore, Columbus, New
Jersey and Toronto.
Eli is a student of Yeshivath
Beth Yehudah.
