The luncheon is on behalf of children in the organization's day/night homes in Hadera, Rehovot and Tel Aviv, Israel. Paula Blanchard is honorary chairman and Ruth L. Miller is Greater Detroit Council chairman. In addition to Celebration of Women Awards to be given to three outstanding leaders in the area of child welfare or other work on behalf of women, a special feature of the afternoon will be the presentation of a Perpetual Scholarship to veteran member Ida Katz. The scholarship is being presented on the occasion of Mrs. Katz's 97th birthday by her daughter Anna Brenner of New York. Ida Axelrod Katz was born July 15, 1890, in a small shtetl in Russia. In 1910, she came with her family to America and lived in New Brandeis Plans Book Sale f jor cternuy 'Or Spiritual Adoption Lunch For Naamat The Brandeis University National Women's Commit- tee, Greater Detroit Chapter, will have its annual used book sale at the Tel-12 Mall in Southfield Aug. 19-26. The sale preview will be held at 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 19. The Greater Detroit Chapter raises the bulk of its money at the annual book sale. The new presidium recent- ly introduced to the chapter includes: Beverly Baker, Dee Fishman, Elaine Krohn and Eleanor Roberts. Mrs. Krohn and Florence Finkelstein attended the group's 39th annual con- ference in Massachusetts. Bicur Cholem Meeting Planned FINE JEWELERS The Women's Bicur Cholem Organization will hold a regular meeting Monday at 11:30 at M.C.L. Restaurant meeting room. York. It was there she work- ed in a shop as a seamstress and where she met her hus- band Barnet. They were mar- ried for 69 years. In 1917, Mr. and Mrs. Katz came to Detroit and it was here that they raised their six children — three sons and three daughters. Mrs. Katz at- tended mothers' classes to learn English, nutrition and home nursing. For many years she worked with her husband in a store on the east side of Detroit. At the same time Mrs. Katz was a volunteer in the Jewish community, particularly for Pioneer Women (now Naamat USA), Club One. Mrs. Katz can still be seen at her favorite spot at Zeman's Bakery during the annual canister drives. , Pool Party For Women Israel Chapter, Naamat USA (Pioneer Women), will have a pool party luncheon for its members and friends on Saturday at noon at the home of Ruth Miller, 156 Lake Park Dr., Birmingham.
