Israel Cancer
Fund Sets Event

The Friends of the Israel
Cancer Association and its
newly established youth
group, The Hanoar, have an-
nounced that its eighth an-
nual dinner will be dedicated
to the memory of Sonia Klein,
who was an active member.
The dinner will be held on
Oct. 4, 1987 at Mat Shalom
Synagogue.
The main purpose of the
association is to aid in
meeting all of Israel's cancer-
related needs. This year's pro-
ject is to finance the purchase
of a $100,000 laser beam, a
piece of equipment which is
critical to combatting the
disease.

Mayors Elect
Rothstein

Mayor Charlotte M. Roths-
tein of Oak Park who is the
president of the Michigan
Association of Mayors (MAM)
was elected at the United
States Conference of Mayors
annual convention in
Nashville to the advisory
board.
Mayor Rothstein recently
received the Michigan Non-
Profit Homes Association
Public Service Award for her
role in securing the funds for
the Jewish Federation
Apartments.

Chapter, is looking for per-

health aides. Students com-
