ig, beautiful home of
Aviva and Jack Robin-
son, overlooking
Island Lake, was like a
painted scenery for recent
preview prior to Meadow
Brook Gallery Associates an-
nual fund raiser, "Picnic On
The Grass," this Tuesday, 7
p.m. at the Sunset Terrace.
No, that wasn't one of the
entrees being worn by Elliott
Trumbull . . . but kind of a
smart-looking yellow jacket
with hand painting on it by
one of the artists, Barbara
Coburn (dental doc Ron) with
signature by Barbara.
Bertha Cohen, another of
the artists, had a huge sheet
with self portrait as she look-
ed and felt while sloshing the
paint . . . Not intended to look
like her by any means.
Downstairs of the home,
Aviva, chairlassie of "Picnic
On The Grass," has her studio
. . . She is one of the ex-
hibiting artists . . . Her other
hobby is amassing a beautiful
glass collection.
Thirty-three artists showed
up on the wooded patio deck
. . . most yet for pre-gala .. .
About 65 artists will show
their sheets, tablecloths,
kimonos, baskets, etc. at "Pic-
nic On The Grass" and Fabric
Art Auction by Michigan ar-
tists . . . $75 per person in-

GEORGE CANTOR, fine
Detroit News columnist and
local radio personality, will be
presented in a special evening
by Detroit Area Art Deco
Society . . . Sept. 29, 8 p.m. at
Grosse Pointe War Memorial.
George will speak on
"Music of the Big Band Era"
. . . But if anybody happens to
throw in a baseball question
at him, George will hit it for
a home run . . . He was also
a highly-regarded sports
writer . . . In fact, his columns
of today touch upon just about
any subject . . . and George's
vast knowledge makes for
very good, interesting
reading.
AD AGENCY dept. . . .

count executive at Mars

dent Marilyn Barnett was
recently honored with 1987

at Kingsley Inn . . . Marilyn
was "Advertising Woman of
the Year" in 1986 . . . Mars
has annual billings of about
$40,000,000 . . . with a client
list that includes Pepsi, 3M
Scotch USA and Canada,
Eveready, Black and Decker
and other national, regional
and local accounts.
NATE PEISS, former
Oak Park School Board
member, joins Marilyn Mazell
in having the longest tenure
of any OP school board
loyalists . . . Both served 16
years.

da Stern who won the recent
Elkin Travel trip to Thronto
by Merchants at Sugar Tree,
Orchard Lake Rd. north of
Maple . . . at its recent "Night
and Day" Sale.
HE PROBABLY could
have done the morning ser-
mon too . . . David Joel Hit-
sky, son of Debbie and Alan
Hitsky did just about
everything else on the bimah
at B'nai Moshe Synagogue
. . . David did his mafter, haf-
,torah, etc. without a flaw .. .
a perfect awe-inspiring perfor-
mance by this young man .. .
making mom, dad, relatives
