Aaron Cooper
Aaron Cooper
'Arians His Rite
Two years ago, Aaron
Cooper, son of Judge and Mrs.
Stephen C. Cooper, contacted
the Detroit Committee for
Soviet Jewry for the name of
a pen-pal in the Soviet Union
so that he could share his
honor with a Soviet boy, in
absentia. The committee gave
him the name of Daniel Rozas
of Vilnius and Aaron im-
mediately sent off a letter to
him.
Shortly after that, Aaron's
parents, Caroline and
Stephen Cooper, went to
Israel on a mission sponsored
by the Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion of Metropolitan Detroit.
While on that trip, they met
several relatives of the Rozas
family and conveyed
greetings to the Rozas family
through Daniel's grandfather
who lives in Haifa.
One month later, the Rozas
family was informed that it
would be allowed to leave the
Soviet Union after so many of
its previous requests had
been denied. The family now
lives in Virginia.
Aaron again called the
Detroit Committee for Soviet
Jewry and was assigned Alex-
ander Berger of Leningrad as
his twin. Aaron has since
written to Alex.
Aaron's bar mitzvah service
was held June 6 at Temple
Israel. Aaron is the grandson
of Mollie Cooper and the late
David Cooper and the late
David and Evelyn Zack.
Out-of-towners celebrating
with the Coopers were:
Aaron's great-uncle, David
Croll, senator in the Cana-
dian National Parliament;
and Crystal Hawk, both of
Thronto; former Detroiters Dr.
Randall Miller of
Washington; Norman and
Barbara Ratner and their
daughters of San Diego;
Deborah Robbins of Fairfax,
Va.; Gordon and Gloria
Silverman and their
daughters of New York City;
Adeline Pincous of
Hollywood, Fla.; and Nancy
Robbins, of Los Angeles.
