stands rebuked for his invita-
tion to the Nazi.
When, however, there are
the commendable deeds,
those to the credit of the
Vatican, they are not forgot-
ten.

Jackier Name
Echoes Glorious
Communal Record

There are so many echoes to
the glories recorded in paying
honor to the name of Joseph
Jackier that there is a
justified summary: He was a
citizen who enriched his com-
munities and mankind.
The tribute is on a pluraliz-
ed basis — that he served
communities, not merely his
own.
Wherever one turns in
Israel, there is the evidence of
his devotion to the state's
well-being, progress and
security, and to its spiritual
and cultural treasures.
There was not a spark of
prejudice in his mind and
heart, and he therefore sym-
bolized the highest ranks in
citizenship.
Joseph Jackier was a
powerhouse of enthusiasm in
support of Bar-Ilan Universi-
ty — a name he enriched with
his encouragement — the
Technion, Hebrew University,
Tel Aviv University — there is
no end to the list.
Our obituary notice at-
tempts a recognition of his
labors. One note is additional-
ly esential, that a man can
best be judged by his family
record. His wife Edythe was a
creative associate in his many
labors; his son Lawrence
shared impressively in what
is becoming a great heritage
from a noble father; and his
daughter-in-law Shelley helps
carry on a great family name.
Much glory to the memory of
a distinguished fellow citizen.
