Mrs. Isadore Katz of South-
field announces the engage-
ment of her daughter, Bar-
bara Silberschein, to Dr. San-
ford H. Herman, son of Mrs.
Sidney Herman of Southfield.
Miss Silberschein is the
daughter of the late Abraham
Silberschein. Dr. Herman is
the son of the late Sidney
Herman.
Miss Silberschein earned a
Bachelor of Science degree in
occupational therapy at
Wayne State University and
a Master of Arts degree in
early childhood education at

Oakland University. She is
currently employed at the
Detroit Institute for Children.

Her fiance, Dr. Herman,
earned his bachelor's and
master's degrees in biology
and anatomy at Eastern
Michigan University and
Michigan State University.
He received a medical degree
from the American Univer-
sity of the Caribbean. He is
an emergency medicine
physician in Ann Arbor.
An August wedding is
planned.

Steven Schechter, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ronald M. Schechter
of Birmingham, was graduated
recently from the University of
Health Sciences/The Chicago
Medical School. Dr. Schechter
will begin a residency at
William Beaumont Hospital in
internal medicine in July.
Leah Icikson of Southfield
received a Master of Architec-
ture degree from Harvard
University Graduate School of
Design.
Jeffrey Scott Deitch, son of
Sarah Deitch of Southfield and
the late Charles Deitch, receiv-
ed a Doctor of Osteopathy
degree from Michigan State
University's College of
Osteopathic Medicine at com-
mencement ceremonies. Dr.
Deitch will begin a rotating in-
ternship at Botsford General
Hospital.
Melissa (Missy) Faith Miller,
daughter of Mrs. Geraldine
Miller of Oak Park and the late
Mr. Jack A. Miller, was recent-
ly graduated magna cum laude
with a Bachelor of Science
degree from Wayne State
University.
Miss Miller, a four-year Merit

Scholar at WSU, will attend the
Wayne State University Law
School in the fall, to which she
has been awarded a Law Alum-
ni Scholarship.
While at WSU, Miss Miller
was elected to Phi Beta Kappa,
Mortar Board Senior Honor
Society (Pi Sigma Alpha),
Golden Key National Honor
Society, Phi Eta Sigma
Honorary Fraternity and Psi
CM Honor Society. She also is
listed in the National Dean's
List.

Southfield Tour
Goes To Flint

City of Southfield Tours
will go to see Pat Boone and
Anita Bryant performing to-
gether at the Star Theater of
Flint on July 26 at 2 p.m. On
July 12 at 2 p.m. a tour will
go to see Peggy Lee at the
Star Theater.
