DANNY RASKIN
BACK IN 1980, it was just
called Condo Care, the brain-
child of late builder and
developer Al Kanfer, who
preferred staying away from
complaints by building top
quality residences instead . . . It
grew so big that in 1983, the
company Al had founded with
wife Bertha, daughter Judye
and son-in-law Larry Glazer
became Condo and Home Care
. . . quite a remarkable concept
. . . with interior warranty on
just about everything from elec-
trical to plumbing to air condi-
tioning to preventative
maintenance, etc. . . . including
24-hour emergency service and
replacement. . . . There's
nothing quite like it anywhere
. . . and the peace of mind by
Condo & Home Care owners is
fantastic . . . Even locks and
hinges, kitchen and bathroom
cabinet adjustment, doors and
doorwalls . . . without charge.
Now Condo & Home Care has
added a second program to save
people money . . . A lot of folks
use its amazing service . . . and
ask the same question . . . how
can they do it? . . . There isn't
even a limit on the amount of
service calls . . . Larry likes to
think of it as sort of unlimited
interior warranty on just about
everything in a person's abode.
CONGRATS . . . to Lynn
Fields . . . on her birthday.
AFTER 40 YEARS a part-
ner and vice president of J.
Singer & Sons, Kenneth Singer
is on his own . . . forming Ken-
neth Singer & Company,
builders and developers . . .
with offices on Orchard Lake
Road.
LINDA SFERA is winner of
the Elkin Travel Toronto trip
for two given by Merchants of
Sugar Tree, Orchard Lake Rd.
north of Maple, at its recent
Midnight Madness Sale.
LOCAL CHILDRENS
photog Joy Gaines Ward will
have her exhibit July 1-Aug. 21
. . . at the Matthaei Botanical
Gardens on Dixboro Road in
Ann Arbor . . . She is the
daughter of former localites
Adele and Saul Gaines in Boca
Raton, Fla. . . . and gives
thanks to photograher Monte
Nagler for his help, support and
inspiration.
DAVE POLLACK vice presi-
dent of AMI (Alliance For The
Mentally Ill) of Michigan.
MICHIGAN, OHIO CLUB
of Invarrary Blvd., Lauderhill,
Fla., meets through the year
. . . For more info, call Gladys
Speyer, 455-0726, or Minnie
Simmer, 731-0752.
COULD IT BE that the
former Standard Club locale on
Northwestern Hwy. will
become a medical office
building by Eric Lutz
Associates?
SUCCESS STORY ... Two
years ago, Cary Glazer worked
for Touch of Class Valet, a
reputable car parking business
. . . Soon Cary had bought out
one of the partners . . . and then
wanted it all as sole proprietor.
. . . Cary's sweet smell of suc-
cess had him buying out his ex-
isting partner . . . and he is now
sole owner . . . People like Dave
Hermelin use nobody else.
DR. MEL RUBENFIRE,
cardiologist tops at Sinai
Hospital, has called it quits on
the baseball diamond . . . After
being asked by a friend to play
in an over-35 game, Mel "gave
his all" in a losing cause, so
leaves with flying colors . . . and
a sore left hand . . . He whack-
ed a ball, went flying around
the bases . . . and even though
Mel was out at third by a cou-
ple thousand feet, he slid in
hands first (a manager's
nightmare) . . . That's why the
temporary leather brace sup-
port on his left hand . . . But
don't feel bad, Mel . . . it's hap-
pened to the best of them .. .
Willie Mays, etc. . . . and is one
of the reasons why Detroit
Tigers manager Sparky Ander-
son winces when Chet Lemon,
Alan Trammell, Lou Whitaker
or some of the other players .go
into bases with their hands in-
stead of the Ty Cobb way of fly-
ing spikes.
LATEST RAGE in New York
is having the story of your life
in print on the cocktail table, in
the office and on a book shelf
. . . It's the last word in ego
mania for VIPs and executives
. . . Here in the Detroit area,
some business people are not
only displaying books about the
story of their lives, but selling
them as well.
Veteran writer Kelly Burgess,
who recently retired from the
Detroit News after ten years,
can tell guys 'n gals how to do
it . . . She's written a how-to
booklet titled, "The Story Of
Your Life: It's Important To You
And Your Family."
For more information, call
Kelly, 641-9465.
DIANE DICKINSON,
bosslady of Corporation Cortina
in Sugar Tree, Orchard Lake
Rd., north of Maple Rd., had her
foreign-made car on exhibit at
last week's Grand Prix . . . Pro-
bably would have raced the car
too, but I don't think 40 miles
an hour would have gotten
many cheers.
Diane will open her second
Corporation Cortina in
hometown of Toronto, Aug. 8 .. .
She's already looking for a third
site . . . Grand Rapids seems
interesting.
