Fishman, they saw that there
was a great need in the com-
munity for their service, so they
went public, with the support of
husbands and children.
To date, the duo had no
figures on how many people
they have brought together.
Asked if they had more male or
female clients, the women said
that they serve an equal
number of men and women.

Neither came to this social
service-type of work cold. They
each had worked for the CASA
(Court Appointed Special Ad-
vocates) program of the Na-
tional Council of Jewish
Women, Greater Detroit Sec-
tion. They had met with judges,
lawyers and families and made
recommendations for place-
ment for abused and neglected
children. In addition, Hoskow
has a degree in education and
is a former teacher in Oak Park
and Livonia. "I have a degree
in common sense," Mrs.
Fishman adds. They have been
friends for 15 years.

What makes their service
special; Hoskow says, is that
"our service is very personal.
We develop a rapport with our
clients. They like to talk to us."
When they interview a client,
they tell the individual a little
about themselves.
An important part of their
operation is that they will do
their "utmost" to protect the
privacy of their clients. And,
Fishman said, they don't make
value judgements. For example,
if a client did not make a good
appearance, they wouldn't say
anything unless the client
asked for their advice. Or, if a
female is looking for a rich and
handsome man, who may be in-
compatible with her, the duo
would not say a word. "Who are
we to tell someone who they
should be looking for?"
Fishman asked.
Both Fishman and Hoskow
admit that what they are doing
is a rewarding project. "It
broadens our social sphere,"
Hoskow said, "and increases
our client's sphere."
Right now, the duo just want
people to get to know them, and
then they can decide whether
or not to sign up.
They said they feel they bring
a special touch to matchmak-
ing. "We feel we work well with
people." Fishman asserts. And
from Hoskow. "(It's) our per-
sonalities, we're informal peo-
ple." 0
