Classroom Management
Subject For Midrasha

The Midrasha-College of
Jewish Studies will present
its 1987 Summer Institute of
classes on Tuesdays and
Thursdays for three weeks,
on June 23, 25, 30 and July
2, 7, 9.
A continental breakfast
will be offered at 8:45 a.m.
Following this, a three part
series on "Effective
Classroom Management" will
meet at 9 a.m. It is geared for
teachers who wish to learn
the latest practical strategies
for improving classroom
management techniques.
Week I features Carolyn
Rakotz, development consul-
tant of Wayne County Inter-
mediate District. She will
demonstrate how to set clear
limits and define conse-
quences for youngsters.
During Week II, Dr. John
Flatter, assistant director of
the Problems of Daily Living
Clinic at Sinai Hospital, will
demonstrate effective com-
munication shills.

During Week III, Sherry
Abrams, a private consultant
in effective instruction, will
help teachers find ways to
make the best use of their
class time.
Credits towards certifica-
tion may be earned.
At 11:00 a.m. each day, Dr.
Todd Endelman, professor of
history at the University of
Michigan, will lecture on
"Tradition and Reform in
Modern Jewish History."
Author of several books, he
will explore the three major
religious movements that de-
veloped in 19th Century
Germany. Master's degree
credit and teacher certifica-
tion may be earned.
All classes will be held in
the Sarah and Morris Fried-
man Conference Room in the
United Hebrew Schools, Sig-
mund and Sophie Rohlik
Building.
