vial restaurant award winner
. . . His Triple Chocolate
Mousse Torte was featured in
Washington, D.C. at the 50th
Presidential Inauguration.
All breads and pastries at
Machus Foxy's West are made
in the Birmingham pastry shop
. . . and delivered daily . . . Dai-
ly delivery is most necessary
since there are no additives or
preservatives.
It's taken Machus quite a
while to come to West Bloom-
field . . . they needed the correct
spot . . . and when it was found
. . . everything, land and all,
was purchased . . . The Machus
restaurants that have won so
many awards can't take
chances . . . a very highly-
regarded reputation is at stake
. . . Machus Foxy's of West
Bloomfield is part of that
revered reputation.

HARD TO BELIEVE ...
but a Chinese restaurant here
sells 400 pounds of whitefish a
week . . . Hoa Kow Inn on Nine
Mile Rd., west of Coolidge in
Oak Park, has doubled the last
count we commented on . . . and
it hasn't been that long ago.
RAY SCHWARTZ is the new
executive chef at Jacques on
Telegraph between 12 and 13
Mile . . . following 32 years at
Pontchartrain Wine Cellars .. .
He is a past president of the
Chefs de Cuisine.
BAGEL DOG that has
literally taken the New York
and Los Angeles markets by
storm, is now in the Detroit and
suburban areas . . . Leslie
Kleiman, vice president of Mor-
ris Kosher, exclusive distributor
of the Barney's Kosher frozen
food line of which Bagel Dog is
a part, says the demand has
been overwhelming . . . The
juicy kosher frank is individual-
ly wrapped in dough and
prebaked . . . Folks reheat it in
oven or microwave for about two
minutes . . . The Bernies East
Bagel Dog can be found in
refrigerated or frozen sections
at food stores.
SIXTH SEASON OF "Sum-
mer Nights" at Troy Hilton on
Stephenson Hwy. & Maple
kicks off tonight with Hugh
Borde's Trinidad Tripoli Steel
Band calypso beat . . . In addi-
tion to Friday evenings this
year, Saturday night concerts
will begin June 20 . . . appeal-
ing to the solid gold guys 'n gals
as Domino and the Teen Agers
perform thru Summer.
ATTIC THEATER, on
Grand Blvd. and Third,
presents a very special perfor-
mance by Free Street Too, ac-
claimed seniors acting company
from Chicago's Free Street
Theater . . . The group of seven
actors and actresses aged 72-85
will enact two separate pieces
. . . The first, "To Life," is a look
at 75 years of history through
the personal remembrances of
the cast members . . . The se-
cond, "What Do You Want To
Be When You Grow Old?", is an
exploration of the myths and

realities of old age from the
perspectives of people living in
it . . . Performance time is 2
p.m. June 14.
NO MORE DRIVING
downtown for Sea Bass in
Greektown . . . Dimitri's of
Southfield, 10 Mile and
Southfield, is now rated among
the best.
MARION AND WARREN
WOLFE not only have every
record Jerry Vale has made .. .
but they've been friends 22
years . . . While he was at the
Top Hat recently in Windsor,
they took him to Stage & Co. on
the Boardwalk for brunch .. .
and to a Detroit Tigers baseball
game . . . Jerry loves to sing,
loves delis and is wild about
baseball . . . He will be 57 and
still has that thick head of gray
hair . . . His voice hasn't chang-
ed, either . . . seems to get bet-
ter with age as he puts on a
very fine show filled with per-
sonable humor as well.
ROMANTIC
BALLADEER Engelbert
Humperdinck, whose latest
album, "Dreaming," just turn-
ed platinum in Germany, will
be at McMorran Place in Port
Huron this Monday for one 8
p.m. show.
Marilyn Sacker, president of
one of Humperdinck's-200 fan
clubs, will be there a day early
to decorate his dressing room.
The man who launched his
amazing recording career with
the single, "Release Me" on
Jan. 13, 1967, has since rack-
ed up 40 gold records and nine
platinum albums, selling 100
million recordings.
A Weight Watcher's lecturer
and "Enge" fan for 15 years,
Marilyn Sacker is also helping
plan a huge 20th anniversary
black tie party for Humper-
dinck on June 25 aboard the
Queen Mary in Long Beach,
California.
IT'S KIND OF sad to know
there are 24 hours in a day .. .
and only one of them is referred
to as the "Happy Hour."

by Frankie Valli and the Four
Seasons and The Four Tops .. .
