ton, he worked as a foreign
correspondent in the Tel Aviv
Bureau of the Reuters News
Agency, covering a wide
range of stories in Israel.
Blitzer spent two weeks in
Egypt in 1977 covering the
first Israeli-Egyptian peace
conference. In 1979 he ac-
companied President Carter
to Egypt and Israel during
the final round of negotia-
tions which led to the signing
of the peace treaty in Wash-
ington. In 1982 Blitzer vis-
ited Israel and Lebanon
where he interviewed top Is-
raeli and Lebanese leaders
and was in Beirut during the
withdrawal of the PLO and
Syrian forces.
