omen's H ealth Club A Saks Fifth Avenue fashion show, luncheon and boutiques highlighted the 1987 Spring Fantasy by the Women's Health Club of the Jewish Community Center (JCC). Carol Eisenshtadt, chairperson of the day, explained that this annual event is now in its seventh year. "It started out with 40 and now we have 400." Proceeds from the event help support the JCC "Send a Kid to Camp" project. More than 30 local craftsmen and artisans displayed and sold their wares in the Center lobby. Boutiques ranged from handmade clothes to jewelry and pottery. Danika, designs in stained glass, sold decorative boxes made of Roman glass found near the Sea of Galilee. Reflections by Karin sold soft sculptured photo albums for all occasions. After a healthy, low-calorie lunch of salad and fruit, some patrons were recipients of raffle prizes. The grand prize was a cruise for two donated by The Cruise Society, Inc. Regina Litt was delighted after winning the prize. "I could use it," she exclaimed. The fashion show began with a background of songs by Barbra Strei- sand and a stage design of white Roman columns. Designers Armani and Ungaro led the show, previewing the new short lengths. However, both short and long hemlines were fashionable. The clothes were all col- ors, ranging from traditional white to wild prints. "We have the hottest suits under the sun, guaranteed to get rave reviews and makes waves," said Cheryl Hall, fashion director at Saks Fifth Avenue, Troy. One blue faux snakeskin suit had a matching sarong. Another unique suit had a silver metallic hipband over a printed background. The evening clothes sparkled like champagne, featuring beads, pearls and sequins. In the finale, the model wore a white beaded dress with a wreath of rhinestoneson her forehead and a white marabou boa. Sylvia Zukin, director of the Women's Health Club, marveled at the success of the luncheon. "The energy of the Women's Health Club board put this together today." ❑ ABOVE: Classic black cotton dress.
