B'nai Moshe Concert
Hosts Cantor Mizrachi

B'nai Moshe's annual Jewish
music concert will be held on
June 9 at 8 p.m. in the syna-
gogue. The evening will be a
celebration of Jewish music
with Cantor Louis Klein and
his guest"soloist, Cantor Alber-
to Mizrachi from Park Syna-
gogue, Cleveland, Ohio.
Cantor Mizrachi is a Greek-
born tenor. He is a graduate of
the Hebrew Academy of Cleve-
land, the Hebrew Theological
College, Skokie, Ill., and the
Cantors Institute of the Jewish
Theological Seminary, New
York City.
HIs chazzanic style is
reminiscent of the great Can-
tors David Kusevitsky and
Moshe Ganchoff, with whom he
studied. His musical training
also includes intensive study at
the Chicago Musical College,
Cincinnati Conservatory of
Music and the American Opera
Center at the Juilliard School.
He continues his vocal studies
with Michael Warren in New
York City.
Ranking among the top
young tenors in the world, he
qualified as finalist in the first
"Luciano Pavarotti Voice Com-
petition," in Philadelphia.
Cantor Mizrahi has perform-
ed with major symphonies and
opera companies. He will sing
a mixture of Yiddish, Hebrew,
and Ladino songs, mixed with
cantorial masterpieces,
Neopolitan songs and operatic
arias. His repertoire spans nine

languages and a multitude of
styles.
Rena Tobes is the concert
chairman. The evening, under-
written by patrons and spon-
sors, is free and open to the
community.

Showhouse Aids
the Symphony

Tickets are on sale to seethe
Detroit Symphony Designers'
Showhouse, located at 1773
Heron Ridge Dr., Bloomfield
Hills.
The showhouse will be open
June 4-28. Hours are noon-8
p.m. Tuesday through Saturday
and noon-6 p.m. Sunday.
Sponsoring oranizations are
the Detroit Symphony League,
the Women's Association for the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra,
Executive Square Building
Corp. and Heron Bay.
Proceeds from the showing
will benefit the symphony.
Tickets are available at all
Ticket World outlets.

Polish Film

Polish film, Halka, at 8 p.m.
