ile playing
with hubby Mort, and Rose and
Ike Benaim . . . on the 128-yard

IN MAY OF 1937, David and
Sarah Silverstein invited their
12 children and mates to their
home to present the idea of
organizing a family club .. .
Purpose was clear that the
grandchildren would grow up in
a united family environment
. . . In that atmosphere they
could influence their children
and their children's children to
be part of and aware of their
genealogy.
Now, 50 years later, with
eight survivors of the original
26 charter members, the group
adds up to 144 living
descendents of David and Sarah
. . . May 31, the "Silverstein
Family Club" will hold its
Golden Anniversary.
Although 49 of the group live
out of Michigan, an.attendance
of 100 family members is ex-
pected . . . ranging in ages from
8-month-old Jennifer Sills to
91-year-old Ida Sorkowitz.
"I DO" DEPT. . . . Thrry Jar-
vi and Steve Kanakis . . . in a
middle-aisle session last
Sunday.
SEVERAL YEARS AGO
while shopping for a baby gift
for a friend, cousins Loretta
Globerson and Rita Neff
discovered a fashion difficulty
for expectant mothers and in-
fants . . . September, 1978 was
the birth of Baby and Me . . . as
they then became business
partners.
After nine years, the com-
pany has outgrown its original
Southfield location . . . and
recently opened nearly double
its floor space with 3,100
square feet at Hunters Square
on Orchard Lake Rd. and 14
Mile . . . Loretta has two very
well-dressed grandchildren .. .
and Rita's only grandchild is
already a fashion plate.
DAVID HARON AND
SHELDON KAY, Southfield
attorneys who turned the wear-
ing of Mumford High School's
"Phys. Ed. Dept." T-shirts in
the Paramount Pictures movie
Beverly Hills Cop into a pile of
loot for themselves and the

Detroit Public Schools, have
done it again.
The shirt is being worn in
Beverly Hills Cop H . . . as Para-
mount announces inking of a
major licensing agreement with
Dave's and Sheldon's merchan-
dising company, S & H Licens-
ing Corp., to distribute shirts
nationwide in connection with
the release.
Retail sales of Mumford Phys.
Ed Dept. merchandise after the
1984 release of Beverly Hills
Cop exceeded $1 million and
provide substantial royalties to
the Detroit Public Schools and
Mumford High for use in pur-
chasing computers and
establishing scholarships .. .
Beverly Hills Cop II is expected
to bring even greater sales.
In 1984, after the movie was
released, Dave and Shel, with
the Southfield law firm of
Josephson, Tennen & Haron,
discovered the excitement caus-
ed by use of the T-shirt in the
movie when they traveled to
Mumford High to purchase
their own shirts . . . After
speaking with Queen Lound-
man, former student activities
director at Mumford, the
fellows entered into an ex-
clusive royalty arrangement
with the Detroit Public Schools
for distribution of the shirts.
