Increasing
Terror Expected

Tel Aviv (JTA) — Israeli
newspapers quoted senior
military sources May 8, who
predicted an escalation of at-
tacks and attempted
hostage-taking by terrorist
groups operating in Lebanon.
According to the sources, a
group known as the Salvation
Front will try to seize hos-
tages for bargaining pur-
poses. It does not want to lag
behind the Palestine Libera-
tion Organization which car-
ried out the two most recent
attempts, the sources said.
They also predicted new at-
tempts to infiltrate Israel by
sea and more Katyusha roc-
ket attacks on Israel terri-
tory.
A report in Haaretz offered
a breakdown of the principal
terrorist and guerrilla groups
active in Lebanon. The Pales-
tinian organizations have
10,000 fighters at their dis-
posal scattered throughout
the country. The largest is
Yassir Arafat's El Fatah,
with 4,000 armed men.

Cubans Miss
Pesach Food

Toronto —
The 900-member Jewish
community in Cuba went
without matzah and other
Passover foods this year be-
cause the thousands of
pounds of edibles donated by
the Canadian Jewish Con-
gress did not arrive in time
to be distributed for the first
seder, the CJC learned. One
report from Havana said the
shipment by sea never ar-
rived and the CJC is consid-
ering other means of trans-
portation.
Ian Kagedan, religious af-
fairs director of the CJC, said
the ship carrying 16,500
pounds of matzot, cooking oil
and grape juice was unable to
leave Montreal in mid-March
as scheduled because of ice
conditions in the St. Lawr-
ence, and because the agents
insisted the ship could not
sail without a full cargo.
