Ruth Braun
Ruth Kaplan Braun, a staff
nurse on the (Flint) Hurley
Hospital Pediatric Psychiatry
Unit which she helped create,
died May 2 at age 59.
A native of Flint, where
she resided at the time of her
death, Mrs. Braun was a
graduate of Flint Central
High School and of Chicago's
Mt. Sinai School of Nursing.
She served as board
president of the Genessee
County Chapter of Planned
Parenthood for two consecu-
tive terms, was a lifetime
member of Cong. Beth Israel
and its sisterhood and a
member of Hadassah. In
addition, she was a member
of Atlas Valley Country Club
since 1949. An accomplished
athlete, Mrs. Braun was a
member of the Womens' De-
troit District Golf Association
and a participant in bowling's
Major Classics.
Mrs. Braun is survived by
her husband, Percy; two
daughters, Wendy Braun of
Flint and Dr. Lisa Braun-
Glazer of La Jolla, Calif.; her
mother, Mina Kaplan Fried-
man of Flint; a sister, E.
Jean Green of Flint and
Florida; and two
granddaughters.

without bail in the
Metropolitan Correctional
Center.

Karl Hoffenberg
Karl A. Hoffenberg, a radio
and television producer, died
May 13.
A former Detroiter, Mr.
Hoffenberg resided in Ir-
vington, N.Y., at the time of
his death. He began his pro-
fessional career as sound ef-
fects director at WWJ radio
in Detroit. While serving in
the U.S. Army during World
War II, Mr. Hoffenberg was
in charge of the Armed
Forces Radio Network in
London, England, and
France.
Upon returning to civilian
life, Mr. Hoffenberg was the
producer of the Martha Raye
Show and for many years
was associated with NBC
News.
He is survived by his wife,
Winifred; two daughters,
Pamela and Deborah; and
two sisters, Mamie Barden of
Oak Park and Emily Buchma
of Southfield. Services in
New York.
