seven percent of women and 17% of
men answered somewhat disagree to
the question. The balance said:
strongly agree, 12%; somewhat
agree, 17%; strongly disagree, 24%;
and not sure, 3%.
"Singles bars" may be all
right for someone else, but they
are of no interest to me.
A whopping 53%, two-thirds of
them women, indicated that they
avoid singles bars. A total of 28% re-
sponded somewhat agree,. 15%
somewhat disagree and 3% strongly
disagree.
It's wrong to have intimate re-
lations with someone you're dat-
ing, even if there's emotional in-
volvement.
In light of all the AIDS scares
and warnings against sexually
transmitted diseases, 56% of the re-
spondents, almost equally split be-
tween men and women, said they
thought it is all right to have sexual
relations with someone they're dat-
ing. Only 8% said they strongly agree
with the question, 7% somewhat
agree, 25% somewhat disagree and
4%, not sure.
If a woman invites a man for a
date, she should pick up the tab.
We must live in an enlightened
society, because 39% of the respon-
dents, three-quarters of them
women, said that if the woman
makes the invitation, she should pick
up the bill. Seventeen percent
strongly agreed, 27% somewhat dis-
agreed, 10% strongly disagreed and
7% responded not sure. (One respon-
dent commented, "It depends on who
makes more money!")
I enjoy being single.
Looking at the total of responses
to this question, one will find an al-
most equal number of women said
they enjoyed being single as didn't.
For example, in the two categories
strongly agree and somewhat agree,
51% of the women said they enjoyed
being single. By the same token, in
the two categories somewhat dis-
agree and strongly disagree, 42%
women didn't care for their unmar-
ried state. Men's responses followed
suit. In the two categories strongly
agree and somewhat disagree, 48% of
the men said they enjoyed being
single, while 52% did not.
The purpose of dating is to try
and meet a potential marriage
partner.
More than half of the respon-
dents said they agreed with the ques-
tion, with the tally as follows: 25%
strongly agree, 35% somewhat agree,
27% somewhat disagree, 10%
strongly disagree and 5% not sure.
I have to go to Chicago, To-
ronto or New York to meet other
Jewish singles.
Apparently, there are enough
Jewish singles in the Detroit area to
meet each other so that they don't
have to go out of town. But in a later
question, the singles gave an oppo-
site response. The answers broke
down as follows: 3% strongly agree,
8% somewhat agree, 8% somewhat
disagree, 56% strongly disagree and
24% not sure.
The pickings are slim for
Jewish singles in the Detroit area.
