Reform Fund Dinner
To Honor Local Activists

The annual dinner on behalf
of the Fund for Reform
Judaism will take place, 6:30
p.m. June 4, at Temple
Emanu-El, under the sponsor-
ship of the Metropolitan De-
troit Federation of Reform
Synagogues.
The dinner will pay tribute
to seven local leaders of the Re-
form Jewish movement. Each
has been selected by his or her
congregation to receive the
Lamed Vav Award, symbolic of
outstanding achievement in
Reform Judaism.
Recipients will be: Kim and
Dr. Kenneth Dickstein, Tem-
ple Beth Jacob; Dr. Stuart
Falk, Temple Emanu-El; Her-
bert Kaufman, Temple Beth
El; Doreen and Stanley
Millman, Temple Israel; and
Stephen Strome, Temple Kol
Arai.

In advance of the dinner,
there will be parlor meetings
Monday and Tuesday at the
homes of Dr. and Mrs. Bruce
Billes and Mr. and Mrs.
Nathan L. Fink.

Guest speaker at the parlor
meetings will be Rabbi Eric H.
Yoffie, executive director of the
Association of Reform Zionists
of America.
Rabbi Yoffie will speak on
ARZA and its goal of religious
pluralism in Israel as well as
other Israel programs, the Re-
form camp movement, Out-
reach to inter-married couples
and the Religious Action Cen-
ter in Washington, D.C.
Persons interested in hear-
ing Rabbi Yoffie or participat-
ing in the June 4 dinner may
call any local Reform congre-
gation for information.

The Jewish Parents Institute graduating class will present an
original play, "The Invitation," at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the
DeRoy Studio Theater at the Jewish Community Center.

Several of the staff members
of the Jewish Parents Institute
will be active participants in
the annual Conference of the
Congress of Secular Jewish
Orgnnizations, this year to be
held on the campus of Eastern
Michigan University in Yp-
silanti, Michigan, May 22-25.
Educational Director,
Marilyn Wolfe, will lead a
workshop for educators titled,
"Problem Solving."
Club 8 leader, Richard Frank

will lead a workshop titled,
"Teaching the Holocaust: Ra-
tionales and Methods."

Club 10 leader, Alan Binkow,
who is serving as the teen co-
ordinator for the entire pro-
gram, will also make a report
in his capacity as co-chairman
of the National Youth Commis-
sion which addresses the needs
of teens and young adults in the
international secular Jewish
community.
