Cantors Lead Israel Tour
Five Detroit-area cantors will
lead a trip to Israel July 7-21 in
celebration of the 40th anniver-
sary of the Cantors Assembly.
Leading tours of their respec-
tive congregants are Cantors
Chaim Najman and Sidney
Rube of Cong. Shaarey Zedek,
Larry Vieder of Mat Shalom
Synagogue, Louis Klein of
Cong. B'nai Moshe and Max
Shimansky of Cong. Beth
Achim.
Cost of the tour includes
visits to major Israeli land-
marks, meetings with Israeli of-
ficials, night-time entertain-
ment, torchlight ceremony at
the Western Wall, concerts with
leading cantors and musical
personalities, Shabbat dinners,
lectures.
A separate track tour is
available for persons who have
been to Israel previously and
would like to visit unusual
sites.
Cost of the tour is $1,940.

Beth Shalom Opens
Satellite Religious School
A satellite school has been
established by the Cong. Beth
Shalom Religious School at the
main Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield.
Classes will be held . at the
Center on Tuesdays and
Thursdays for children in
grades three through seven.
Sunday classes will be at the
Avery School site. Additional
classes for children in grades
three-seven will be held at the
Avery School on Mondays and
Wednesdays.
The religious school is accep-
ting registration for the
1987-1988 school year. Children
of members and non-members
are eligible.
The Beth Shalom Religious
School is an independent Con-
servative school. Training is of-
fered to boys and girls from
kindergarten through seventh
grade. Bar and bat mitzvah
training is included in the
curriculum.
Cyril C. Servertter is educa-
tional director. For enrollment

Middle school and high school
courses for youth in grades
eight-12 are offered through the
Jewish Community High
School of which Cong. Beth
Shalom is a founder.
Passport Workshop
Due In Southfield
There will be a passport
workshop on June 10 from 9:30
a.m. - 3 p.m., in room 111 of the
Southfield Parks and Recrea-
tion Building, 26000 Ever-
green.
To apply for a new passport
bring proof of citizenship, two
passport photos, driver's
license or other picture I.D.
and cash, check or personal
money order for $42 (good for
10 years) or $27 for persons
under 18 years of age.
For passport renewal, bring
recent passport, two recent
identical photos and $35.
George Laberge, of the U.S.
Post Office, will be on hand.
David Einstein will take two
color passport pictures for $5.
