Plan Conclave

MICHIGAN STATE TEM-
PLE YOUTH (MSTY) will

participate in the MSTY Sum-
mer Conclave, Aug. 23-28 at
Olin Sang Ruby Union In-
stitute (OSRUI). in
Oconomowac, Wis.
This event is open to all high
school youth, from incoming
freshman to graduating senior.
The theme for the week is "Sell'
Image: Who Am I?"

BBYO

About 180 Michigan Region
members will attend the Elec-
tions Training Conclave at
Camp Maas this weekend. The
theme of the weekend is "Door-
way to the Future," and the
weekend will be highlighted by
the election of Great Lakes
Council officers for the
1987-1988 program year. In ad-
dition, the weekend will begin
the process of training newly-
elected AZA and BBG chapter
leaders. Coordinators for the
program are Sandra User of
Disraeli BBG and Jeff Ehrlich
of Chalutzim AZA. Staff coor-
dinator is Joel Colman.
The AZA Softball League will
begin play 9 a.m. June 7 at
Southfield High School, and
will continue on Sunday morn-
ings through August. Applica-
tions are due Thursday. Addi-
tional applications have been
sent to chapter presidents.
Once a team has registered for
the League, additional applica-
tions for that team will be ac-
cepted through June 25. A cap-
tain's meeting will be held at
the BBYO office, 5 p.m. May 27.
Coordinator for the League is
Jeff Blackman of Maccabee
AZA. League administrator is
Denny Brenner. For informa-
tion, contact Joel Colman,

There will be an orientation
meeting for all AZA and BBG
members participating in this
summer's Israel Summer In-
stitute 7:30 p.m. Thursday at
the United Hebrew High
School building. Parents of par-
ticipants are also urged to at-
tend. Final details about the
trip, information from past par-
ticipants, and a presentation by
Benny Schwarz, shaliach, will
be featured. For information,
contact Arnold Weiner at the
BBYO office.
The annual meeting of the
BBYO board of directors will be
held, 8 p.m. May 28, at the
Laurel Woods Apts. Club
House. The meeting will
feature the election of officers
and members-at-large for the
1987-1988 year. Henry Gutter,
nominating committee chair-

man, will submit the names of
those nominated for election,
and the meeting will be con-
ducted by outgoing board chair-
man, Ida Stein. Planning chair-
man for the meeting is Esther
Applebaum.
BBYO will hold its member-
ship drive Bob-Lo Trip on May
31. Those eligible to attend in-
clude all those new members
who registered between Jan. 1
and March 31 as well as the
BBYO members who recruited
them. Participants are asked to
be at the BBYO office by 8:30
a.m. where a chartered bus will
take them to the Bob-Lo dock
at Gibraltar. The group will
return to the BBYO office for in-
dividual pick-up at 7:30 p.m.
Coordinators of the program
are Sara Voight, BBG Council
membership vice president,
and Eric Bronstein, AZA coun-
cil membership chairman. Staff
coordinator is Joel Colman.
The following chapter ad-
visers have been appointed:
Susan Alterman, Ahavah BBG,
Cindy Viviano, Machar BBG;
and Steve Weberman, Samson
AZA. Volunteer positions as ad-
visers to AZA and BBG
chapters are available for the
upcoming program year. Those
interested should contact Joel
Colman for AZA and Adele
Lewin for BBG at the BBYO
office.
Marc Rivkin of King AZA
and Dori Weiner of Disraeli
BBG have been selected as
coordinators of the annual
BBYO council installation, 7:30
p.m. June 18, at Mat Shalom
Synagogue. The evening will
also feature chapter and in-
dividual award presentations
and a dance. All members of
AZA and BBG are invited.
The team of King/Chalutzim
AZAs emerged victorious
recently as the champion of the
AZA Basketball League and
recipient of the Avram "Bud"
Charlip Memorial Trophy. In
the play-offs, Maccabee AZA
defeated Brandeis AZA 30-21
and King/Chalutzim AZAs
defeated Herzl AZA 31-14. The
championship game found
King/Chalutzim AZAs
defeating Maccabee AZA 33-30.
Seth Polsky of Herzl AZA was
chosen Most Valuable Player.
Overall coordinator for the
AZA Basketball League was
Rob Weiss of Hart AZA.
The first executive board of
the newest chapter, Simcha
BBG 294, includes: Jacqui
Stern, president; Dena Berns-
tein, vice-president; Sheri
Galens, membership vice-
president; Julie Katz,
treasurer; Heather Galison,
recording secretary; Jille Stern,
corresponding secretary; and
Judy Weiner, reporter. Adviser
to the chapter is Aileen Katz.
New members are welcome. For

will hold joint old-new ex-
ecutive meetings on May 26,
and May 27, respectively, for
