Enjoy Single Living;

Brian Schubot advises meeting
Mr. /Miss Right takes time

HEIDI PRESS_

News Editor

rian Schubot is not a
worrier. He knows that
' someday he'll meet Miss
Right, but, for the moment,
he's going to enjoy his job, his
singlehood and his charitable
activities.
Schubot, 24, is the vice
president of marketing for his
family's business, Jules R.
Schubot Jewellers-
Gemologists in Troy, as well
as a graduate gemologist and
certified gemologist ap-
praiser. For Schubot, finding
the perfect relationship takes
time.
"The right person is out
there somewhere. Don't be
discouraged if it's not hap-
pening as quickly as you
want it to, because eventu-
ally it will happen."
And where does Schubot
meet potential dates? He
spends a lot of time working
on behalf of charitable
causes, both in the Jewish
and general communities. -
For the New Leadership
Division of State of Israel

B

Bonds, of which his father,
Douglas Schubot is Metro De-
troit chairman, - the younger
Schubot will lead its annual
delegation to Israel May
17-29. He participates in the
Young Adult Division of
Jewish Welfare Federation,
efforts for the Holocaust
Memorial Center and Michi-
gan Cancer Foundation and
is on the board of the Found-
ers Junior Council of the De-
troit Institute of Arts.
Schubot's involvement in
charitable activities is not
just for passing the time.
Rather, he is looking at it as
following- in his parents'
footsteps, as an entree into
communal leadership.
"I'm trying to become
active as early as I can and
hope to follow in the tradi-
tions that my family has bas-
ically set forth of becoming
active in the community. So,
by starting out where I am I
can have a good footing in
the community in the long
run.
At the same time, Schubot
said, he enjoys being single
because it gives him the time

to be able to participate in
these projects. "It (being
single) gives me the opportu-
nity to be active in a lot of
things that I might not be
able to be active in if I had
more responsibility (wife,
children)."
Schubot meets new people
at the charity events, rather
than at singles parties. He
said he finds that more - of the
people with whom he
socializes go to cultural af-
fairs, rather than the large
singles bashes. However, he
admits he doesn't do well
walking up to a potential ac
quaintance.
"I'm real good at being in-
troduced to people. I'm not
good at just walking up to
someone and saying 'would
you like to dance.' I've never
been able to do that real suc-
cessfully."
But the Michigan State
University graduate has
nothing to worry about, for as
he philosophizes, it all works
out in the end.
"I'm very convinced that
things that are supposed to
work out, work out some-
how."
