VANILLA NUT COOKIES 1 cup margarine lh cup powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 2 V4 cup sifted flour tsp. salt 1 cup chopped walnuts Cream the margarine and sugar until light. Add the vanilla. Sift together the flour and salt and gradually add it to the creamed mix- ture. Mix. When the dough is smooth, add the chopped nuts and mix thoroughly. Make balls of about a teas- poon of dough each. Place on greased cookie sheets and flatten slightly with a fork. Bake at 400 degrees for about 10-15 minutes, just until they begin to color slightly. Do not let them brown. Remove from the oven and while still hot, roll them in powdered sugar. When com- pletely cool, store in a covered container. Makes about 3 dozen cookies. Ronald Lampert has joined the Jewish Association for Retarded Citizens as assistant director. He will be responsible for the supervision of the agency's pro- gram services. These include the Haverim Homes, the DeRoy Apartment Program, Family Assistance Program and Coor- dinated Intervention Services for Dually Diaganosed Individuals. Lampert was the assistant manager of the department of psychiatry at Harper Hospital of Detroit. He holds a Master of Social Work degree in ad- ministration and interpersonal practice from the University of Michigan. He has practiced as a social worker with a variety of populations at the department of psychiatry of Harper Hospital, Catholic Social Ser- vices and the Family Service of Detroit and Wayne County. Lampert also was associated for six years with the Jewish Community Center's programs for developmentally disabled adults sponsored by the North- west Child Rescue League and worked in group homes for disabled adults in Ann Arbor during his undergraduate education. The Hillel Day School P.T.O. will hold its first "Spe- cial Person Day," 8:30 a.m. Monday. Each Hillel student may bring a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, neighbor or anyone who is special to school.
