Raitzin To Sing Opera, Jewish Songs

Misha Raitzin, noted Met-
ropolitan Opera tenor, has
announced his program for
the concert he will present
next Thursday at Adat
Shalom Synagogue at 8 p.m.
The concert is sponsored by
the Esther Allan and Sally
Allan Alexander Fund.
Raitzin will open the pro-
gram with two Italian pieces:
Amarilli by Caccini and Una
Furtiva Lagrima from The
Elixir of Love by Donizetti.
He will continue with two
Russian songs by
Tchaikovsky, followed by
by
Zuchreinu L'Chaim
Singer. E Lucevan le Stelle
from Puccini's Tosca and
Federico's Lament from
Cilea's L'Arlesiana, also will
be heard.
The second half of the pro-
gram will include a combina-
tion of cantorial, traditional
and folk song selections sung
in Hebrew and other lan-
guages, including Yedid
Nefesh and Sim Shalom. In
English, he will sing a med-
ley from Fiddler on the Roof.
Thursday's concert is pre-
sented under the auspices of
the Adult Study Commission
of Adat Shalom Synagogue.
Co-chairmen are: Allan Gel-
fond and Sharon Hart.
Members are: Agi and Ed-
ward Alpert, Bess Berris,
Sharon and Ronald Blatt,
Beverly and Robert Dock,
Natalie and Erwin Eichen,

Newswoman To Speak

Kathy Adams, Channel 2
co-anchor for the 6 p.m. and
11 p.m. newscasts, will be the
guest speaker for the Temple
Beth El Brotherhood's
Mother's Day Champagne
Brunch on May 10 at 10 a.m.
Ms. Adams came to Chan-
nel 2 from Cleveland, Ohio,
where she was co-anchor for
the noon news as well as
doing special features and in-
vestigative reporting.
Since 1983, Adams has
been honorary chairman for
the March of Dimes and has
been involved in the United
Negro College Fund.
The champagne brunch,
prepared by the Brotherhood
of Temple Beth El, is at 9:30
a.m. There is a charge for the
brunch, and reservations .are
required.
