Soviets Issue
Postal Regulations

The Soviet Union has ad-
vised member countries of
the Universal Postal Union
that customs declaration
forms for parcels must be
completed in French or Rus-
sian with full descriptions of
enclosed items and that, as of
May 1, parcels accompanied
by incorrectly completed cus-
toms declarations will not be
accepted for customs clear-
ance.
In order to facilitate pack-
age deliveries, the U.S.
Postal Service has developed
a list of typical items sent to
the Soviet Union and French
translations for these items.
Copies of this list as well as
instructions for correctly
completed forms are available
from the Soviet Jewry Com-
mittee of the Jewish Com-
munity Council. For informa-
tion, call the Council, 962-
1880.
