Homemaker Help

Jewish Vocational Service
(JVS), a non-sectarian
agency, offers an ongoing
Displaced Homemaker Pro-
gram funded by the Michigan
Department of Labor, office of
women and work, for indi-
viduals in Wayne and Oak-
land counties.
Displaced homemakers are
women who, through divorce,
separation, widowhood, or
disability of spouse, have lost
their source of economic sup-
port. The JVS DisplaCed
Homemaker Program pro-
vides vocational assessment,
vocational counseling, job
seeking skills and job place-
ment assistance. Women who
need to become financially
self-sufficient, who need a
boost towards entering the
job market after many years
in the home, are invited to
contact JVS.
Eligibility is based on mar-
ital and employment status.
There are no income
guidelines.

Names Detroiter

Dr. Melvyn Rubenfire has
been elected to serve as gov-
ernor for the state of Michi-
gan by the American College
of Cardiology's (ACC) board
of trustees.
Dr. Rubenfire is professor
of medicine at Wayne State
University and chairman of
the department of medicine
at Sinai Hospital of Detroit
in Detroit.
