Winner of the prestigious 1979 Naumberg Chamber Music Competition, the New World String Quartet is rec- ognized as one of America's most prominent chamber music ensembles. This year the group is Quartet-in- Residence at Harvard and Alma College, with visiting residencies at the University of Michigan and Virginia Commonwealth University. This year the NWSQ will release the two quartets by Janacek, the Czech composer, on the Musical Heritage label.
