"We want solid relations with the Arab states as well as with Israel," he said. "I know the Iran problem and its disclos- ures have troubled some Arab leaders. But we have private- ly conveyed our position to them and I think they under- stand our motives. For exam- ple, they now realize that we weren't coming in as an ally of Iran.
