A gala reception
Saturday night at
the Henry Ford
Museum marked
Hadassah's 75th
anniversary

Long-time members and local dignitaries, hostesses in
period costumes and guests in formal evening attire highlighted
the Greater Detroit Chapter of Hadassah's celebration of the na-
tional Zionist organization's 75th anniversary.
Guests were invited to walk through the museum's displays,
and enjoyed a buffet-style dinner and strolling musicians. Area
florists competed in a contest to design arrangements honoring
Hadassah. Pieces of diamond jewelry were raffled as well as a
life membership and an associate membership in the organiza-
tion.
Congressman Sander Levin, State Senator Jack Faxon and
Representative Judith Miller spoke briefly to the audience, in-

troduced by event chairman Deborah Canvasser and Greater De-
troit Chapter president Susan Yorke. New founding member
Samuel Fishman was honored and the guests also viewed a na-
tional Hadassah film highlighting the organization's work
through Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem and Hadassah's educa-
tional organizations throughout Israel.

Hadassah used the _musuem setting to highlight its 75
years, and several Hadassah members put on a skit about the
organization, accompanied by an antique piano. The instrument
was also used to lead some impromptu singing and dancing by
the 250 guests.
