Tamarack Camps will offer
five weeks of Family Camp,
three more than last summer.
Family Camp takes place at
Butzel Conference Center,
near Ortonville. Families are
housed in guesthouses that
contain eight private rooms
with private baths. Families
may be housed together.
The programs are family-
centered and counselors pro-
vide activity leadership and
some child care services. The
facilities include a craft room,
jungle gym, tennis courts,
physical fitness course, beach
and a playroom for pre-school.

Families have access to the
facilities of nearby Camp
Maas. Activities vary there
from swimming and canoeing
to nature games and arts and
crafts. There are hayrides,
cook-outs, family games and
weekly talent shows. Horse-
backriding and pioneer skills
— candle making, rope dip-
ping, musket shooting, and
toy construction — also are
available: Programs for par-
ents, such as speakers and
discussions as well as eve-
ning recreational programs
are also a part of the experi-
ence.

Friday night is celebrated
with a special dinner, songs,
and presentations by chil-
dren. Shabbat morning serv-
ices are held in the Rabbi
Morris B. Adler Chapel, with
the youngest children having
their own children's service.
The day is concluded with a
Havdalah ceremony on
Saturday night. The kitchen
is maintained as a kosher
facility.

The full time director of
Family Camp is Warren Co-
hen, and he is assisted by
Carol Parven, the Family
Camp coordinator. _The coun-
seling staff is drawn from the
resident camp programs run
by Tamarack Camps.
Families may sign up for
one or more of the following
weeks: June 30 - July 5, Aug.
11 - 16, Aug. 18 - 23, Aug. 25
- 30, Sept. 3 - 7.
Families with all aged
children, including single-
parent families and multi-
generational families are
welcome to apply.
Applications will be ac-
cepted at the Tamarack office
beginning today. Acceptance
to each program - is on a
first-come, first-served basis.
