who worked with Rabbi Fram for 34 years, began his re- marks at yesterday's services with a paraphrase of a Bibli- cal quote of the Phillistines: "The glory has departed from Temple Israel." Syme told The Jewish News of Rabbi Fram's zest for life, his devotion to his con- gregation and to the young rabbis at the temple. "He welcomed Rabbis Harold Loss and Paul Yedwab. He consid- ered Rabbi Loss' children his own, and he was always lis- tening to new ideas, willing to give them a try." The staff referred to Rabbi Fram as "the great white father," Rabbi Syme recalled, "but he was always open, never rigid or inflexible." "Older members of Temple Israel will remember him walking. He used to take walks around the old temple in Palmer Park at least five times a day. "But we will all remember him for being a Zionist when it was unpopular to be a Zionist. And for his fearless- ness," Rabbi Syme said. "He would stand up to bigots no matter who was their target — Jews, Catholics, blacks." Israel Debates Extradition Of Hasid Jerusalem (JTA) — Avrohom Mondrowitz, a 38-year-old Hasid who fled to Israel two years ago after he was charged with sexually abus- ing children in the Boro Park section of Brooklyn, was the center of a bitter dispute last week between the govern- ment which want to deport him and local rabbis fighting deportation. Acting Interior Minister Ronni Milo signed a deporta- tion order. But the police were not instructed to implement it. Mondrowitz, a Gerre Hasid,- who is married, the father of seven children and live in the Shaare Hessed quarter of Jerusalem, denied all allegation against him in an interview published in an Israeli newspaper. The case has brought Milo into open dispute with former Interior Minister Rabbi Yitz- hak Peretz who had refused to deport Mondrowitz earlier on instructions from two distinguished Jerusalem rab- bis, Shalom Eliashiv and Shlomo Urbach. The rabbis did not refer to the alleged offenses but insisted Mon- drowitz be allowed to remain in Israel because of the public humiliation his family would suffer if he is deported. .,,.Dam il y ootcare p.c. • Bloom sot Bloom • • Registered Electrologists • Come and let us remove your unwanted hair problem and improve your appearance.
