and 85°F in spring soar into
the 90's in summer. If it's a
fairly warm area, the rule of
thumb is casual wear. Definitely
go casual for the day;
shorts and cotton dresses
are a must.
You will want to dress more
elegantly for dinner, especially
if you are staying at one of the
fancier resorts.
Remember that since Palm
Springs is a desert resort, it
may get colder at night. Bring
a sweater and jacket, and wear

Temperatures in London are
560 to 63°F in spring and 69 0
to 73°F in summer. Bring warm
clothing for this vacation,
especially for the sometimes
chilly nights. Always be
prepared for rain in London.
Boots and an overcoat are
appropriate year-round. A
travel wardrobe of inter-
changeable pieces that can be
layered is your best bet.
Temperatures in Paris are
somewhat warmer, 60 0 to 670 F
in spring and averaging
75°F in summer. In the
daytime in either city, a simple
outfit of blouse and skirt or
slacks suffices. If it is hot
enough, Bermuda shorts are
acceptable.
Dinners are always coat-and-
tie for men. Ladies' wear is
open to a greater range of in-
terpretation, but you can't go
wrong with a tailored suit. This
outfit is also proper for such
events as attending plays in
London.
For nights at the symphony
or opera followed by a late din-
ner at one of the cities' many
elegant restaurants, tuxedos
for men and full-length gowns
for women are appropriate
