Black and white plaid dress and
matching cape, black sweater, white hat
and gloves, by Sonia Rykiel.

and black organza skirt.
Montana made a strong
case for navy blue this spring,
mixing it with a lighter French
sailor blue. New touches for
spring: lady-like laced gloves,
ankle-wrapped pumps, fabric-
wrapped sunglasses, bracelets
and "rope" necklaces of ox-
idized brass touched with gold.

Known for
Sonia Rykiel
her sexy knits, Rykiel showed
white sweaters with colored
outlines on the drop shoulder
seams. Her striped sweaters
had a twist: the body and the
sleeves were in contrasting
stripes. Featured, too, were
skirts with irregular hems, the
back longer than the front; and
clothes in a knitted denim
fabric. Sayings like "Fool For
Love" and "Forever Rykiel"
were emblazoned across
sweaters and rhinestone belts.
Rykiel's accessories drew
particular attention, including
bows in the hair, bows down
the fronts and backs of
sweaters.
